Valentines of Yesteryear

rsz_img_2970Known as The Mother of American Valentines, Esther Howland was just 19 years old when she started the New England Valentine Company in 1847.

Her valentines became famous all over the U.S., and ranged in price from $.05 to $50. These are among the many antique valentines currently on display at the West Oaks Library and Genealogy Center.

 
All items in the display are on loan from the private collections of members of Friends of Ocoee History Preservation.rsz_img_3076
